Gorgeous and artful!! Intricate Japanese hand painted coffee/teacup and saucer. Made in occupied Japan.
This is a small work of art. The teacup set features a hand painted pink and orange wild rose on the cup and saucer. Both are trimmed in gold. The cup has a white exterior with the large hand painted pink and orange rose filling the entire cup. The gorgeous flower is again repeated on the saucer. Gilded and scalloped rims on the cup and saucer. The foot of teacup also has scalloped edges, and has an elegant gold band around the exterior circumference.
Made by Merit China from Occupied Japan, which dates this piece to around 1946 to 1949. Very eye catching. The colors are still very vivid! Obviously well taken care of, it is in excellent vintage condition.
